iPod shuffle turns on but then shuts off after a few seconds.

My iPod shuffle works in every regard except when I plug in headphones to play music, it starts playing but then after a few seconds (10-30) it fades off. Then I have to turn it back on. This happens 95% of the time, occasionally it will stay on. I have tried many head seats etc, it is very random. The headsets work fine with my iPhone. When I connect my iPod to my computer it never disconnects accidentally....
