My Apple Watch Sport does not display maps..

Just noticed, if you plan a route on your iPhone, the watch has 2 screen options: 1. a step by step direction guide - which works. 2. a map display - which doesn't work, just the grid being displayed

Yes, I've got the same problem. Just spent 1.5 hours on the phone to apple to be told the watch was faulty and needed to be repaired or replaced.

Sure this must be a software issue though. Also noticed that maps don't work in citymapper, although the app itself otherwise works.

Can please somebody confirm that the Maps were actually wotking on the watch before the sw updaze 1.0.1 ?

i can confirm that it worked with SW 1.0 on iPhone 6 AND after updating to 1.01.

I chatted with Apple last night about this same problem -- happens on my new Watch that arrived yesterda -- and it got escalated to a supervisor who sent it to engineering. I should hear back next week and will update if I learn anything. (And it never worked for me -- I updated to 1.0.1 immediately after getting the watch.).

Same problem here on a brand new Apple Watch received 5/22. iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3. Maps not working both before and after the Apple Watch software update.

I'm in the same boat so at least I don't feel alone anymore. I received my stainless steel, leather band watch last night and everthing except Maps works fine. I spent the entire night resetting and restarting both my watch and phone in every sequence imaginable. Previous posts suggested that would fix the problem. I've scheduled a Genius appt for tomorrow to register the bug and get in line for a replacement.

If it is a faulty watch, the real drag is that I've read elsewhere there are no quick replacements due to such limited availability. Kind of disappointing to think it could be more weeks of waiting for a replacement while walking around with a watch missing a piece of core functionality.

I have the same behavior. For example, if I go to my Starbucks app, it will find the closest location to me but just never render the map onto the grid. I can even get turn by turn directions to that Starbucks location, it's just visually blind to map graphics. So the geo-mapping functionality seems to be there, it's just the visual rendering and display of map graphics, at any zoom scale, is missing.
