Aug 19, 2016 4:54 AM in response to JonTinaby macsince1986,Switching USB ports - this worked for me. Problem came out of nowhere, no precursor. I tried re-setting trust settings and rebooting both iPhone (6s) and Mac Air (El Capitan) and all the other suggestions given here other than iCloud (I don't put 112Gb on iCloud).
Hopefully this will not happen again.
