Migrating Notes on iPhone from gmail to icloud

For some unknown reason, for several months my Notes on iphone 6 (now running iOS 8.3) started getting backed up on my gmail account instead of icloud (which for years had been my default Notes account). I would like to migrate them back into icloud. Is there a simple way to do this? It does not seem there is an easy way to switch accounts for Notes already synced on iOS 8.3. I considered switching off Notes in Settings for my gmail account, but it says this will remove all notes in gmail from the phone. I could email the notes from gmail one by one, but since there is a large number, that seems undesirable. Suggestions?
