I have purchased a few ringtones on my iphone 5 and thought they would automatically transfer to my new iphone6 when synched to my pc but theyre not there, they have disappeared completely

If you still have them on your old phone then File > Devices > Transfer Purchases should copy them over to the Tones part of your iTunes library, and you can then sync them to your new phone.
If you've deleted them from your old phone and you don't have a copy of them anywhere then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a redownload : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

Where is ''file'' I presume it is in iTunes? However I cannot find it. I can see my tone on my old iPhone but I am not able to transfer it onto iTunes to then sync it to my new iPhone.
