Q: Use Apple Pay on holiday in USA - Can I do it with a UK iTunes account?

Hi All,

I am based in England and am travelling to New York and Atlantic City for a holiday (Vacation).

I have an iPhone 6 and have recently ordered an Apple Watch. Apple Pay is currently unavailable in the UK, but is their any way of using Apple Pay through my phone and watch when on holiday in the USA?

Would be great to try it out, but am unsure if it will work, or even allow me to set it up, as I have a UK iTunes/Apple account.

Thanks alot,

Keith

No. ApplePay is only available with US issued credit cards and on US based Apple IDs as of this time. You will get an error if try to add a UK issued card to ApplePay at this time.

In light of the recent rumour that Apple Pay will go live on 14th July in the UK I'd like to revisit this thread rather than start a new one. As we're vacationing in the U.S. Just after that date will I be able to use my UK Apple Pay over there. One thing that came out of the keynote was that U.S. tourists would be able to use Apple Pay on London Transport, I'm hoping this is a 2 way street to save me carrying my wallet and iPhone around

Once Apple supports Apple Pay in your home country (region) and you have a card from a participating provider from that region, you should be able to make purchases at any location worldwide that accepts contactless payments.
