Why are some messages in green and others in blue?
why are some text messages green print and others blue?
iPad 2, iOS 8.3
Green indicate they were sent as a SMS, text message.
Blue indicate that they were sent as an iMessage.

thank you. i checked the link you sent. i was trying to send a message to my son in singapore and it kept saying message not sent. this was on my iPad. my phone does it too but gives me the option to send it as a text message instead of iMessage. why does my iPad not do the same? and why does it matter?
iPad can only sent as iMessage not SMS.
SMS piggyback on the cellular connection (voice line).

SMS requires cellular service, your phone has it but what about your iPad?
