My Canon MV550i is apparently no longer recognised by iMovie.How can I download it?

I have a Canon MV550i digital video camcorder.

I have an iMac v 10.10.3

I used to be able to download recordings into iMovie, but it seems it is no longer recognised by the current version of iMovie 10.0.8
