email app crashes and deletes all email

I have an iPhone 5 running the latest iOS software.

Recently I have been observing the email app crashing shortly after it is opened. When it relaunches all the mail in the inbox is deleted. Luckily the mail is still on the POP server and get's downloaded again.

Has anybody seen this as well.
