Q: lost sound icon on console and have no sound. I checked under system preferences and mute button is checked. I cannot clear this button. There are also warning messages being send but I cannot decipher them. Please help.

I have an Apple OSX computer. The sound icon is not on the console but warning messages that I do not understand are being sent. I checked under system preferences and mute button for sound is checked. I cannot clear it. Please help.

OS X is not Classic.

Change your Audio Midi Setup application sound input and output settings.

Post in the correct version of Mac OS X forum here:

After going to Apple menu -> About This Mac to find your Mac OS X version.
