It's a scam. You do not have a virus.
Thanks for that. However on both Safari and Firefox I'm being blocked from everything that is not in my bookmarks. Any advice?

How so? What happens when you try to access a site that isn't in your bookmarks?
Yyou might have an adware/malware attached to your browser.
First, disconnect from Wi-Fi and clear your browser history, that might solve the issue. Otherwise...
AdwareMedic removes all known adware from your Mac. Download and instructions here.

I get my service provider telling me that "web safe has blocked this site" even if it is the same site on my bookmark.
I'm still not really clear on what you're seeing or how it relates to your bookmarks. Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?
Make a screenshot by following the directions here:

I take it Virgin Media is your internet service provider? If so, this is something you'll need to discuss with them.
Thanks mate. However no one else in the house is having any trouble, just my terminal.
It's not your service provider that is showing the warnings (they communicate via email). You have malware on your browser. Follow the provided instructions.

Restart the computer in safe mode:

While in safe mode, does the problem still occur?
