The casing around my Macbook Air power cord
It's become stretched at the end that connects to the laptop, and has now split open. My machine is still protected under Apple Care. Would this be covered?

It depends upon how the cable was damaged. The best thing is to make an appointment with an Apple Genius, and bring both the adapter and computer.
