May 23, 2015 12:41 PM in response to hwhoby dominic23,Can you run EtreCheck and post the report here please?
EtreCheck: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6173
This will check for adware.

May 23, 2015 5:37 PM in response to hwhoby wins_lord,It seems to me like your computer is affected with adware, since some of my friends have experienced these problems before. What I would suggest for you to do is backup all your personal datas only and reinstall your Mac OS because you may also want to start from fresh, if say, your Mac is overloaded.

Yes, fortunately there is another way to remove adware. Unfortunately, the solution may not be absolute considering the hundreds or even more variations in the adware type. Still; your computer, your call.

Hope this helps!

May 26, 2015 11:02 AM in response to hwhoby hwho,Etrecheck did not fine anything but the old version of flash, which I still need to use the VPN to my employers. I also searched for the unwanted items mentioned above. None were found.
I don't get pop-ups etcetera. No changed items, extra toolbars or anything.
The problem mainly occurs in Firefox, especially on some sites. There is one exception: running Youtube in Chrome will also crash the system, mostly within about 30 seconds but certainly within a few minutes. Could it be that the graphics card is faulty?

May 26, 2015 11:34 AM in response to OGELTHORPEby hwho,There is no file called panic.log in /Library/Logs. There are no messages about system crashes and the like, the system just seems to switch itself off. It boots up normally, as if nothing happened. If the crash occured in Firefox, sometimes the browser comes up with the window where you can select not to recover one or more of the tabs. I'd better choose the tab I was in, otherwise the system will swtich off again when that tab opens, or shortly thereafter.

May 27, 2015 8:34 AM in response to OGELTHORPEby hwho,Thanks. I ran Diagnostics, no issues. Checked for updates again, looked for more malware etcetera. I'm afraid the next step could be to remove Firefox? Problem is it knows more about my site passwords than I do...

Jul 16, 2015 11:56 AM in response to hwhoby hwho,Hi Guys,
I recently disabled Flash on this system after all the news about it being unsafe. The system did not crash since then. Youtube seems to play allright in HTML5 mode.
