2. Insert a USB flash drive of 16GB.
3. From SL, go to Internet and start a Yosemite Upgrade. When it comes to the device for Yosemite installation, choose the USB. If it will not let you choose the USB, let your SL be upgraded to Yosemite. It can always be downgraded back to SL locally, if needed.
4. From either USB or the new Yosemite installation which replaced SL, check System Preferences -> Startup Disk and test if you can access the other Yosemite partition. This will allow you to be able to read and write the Yosemite volume and your Disk Utility from Yosemite will allow you to repair the non-working Yosemite partition.
