I just got compressor to convert MPEG-2 into MPEG-4. When I add the MPEG-2 file to convert, there is no audio while in Compressor. When I open the file in QT, the video plays with audio. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

UUse MPEG Streamclip to convert MPEG-2. Compressor doesn't demux MPEG-2 files and that likely the problem. Guessing without knowing where this is from.
There are many kinds of MPEG-2.
Some will work with Compressor and others won't.

That's what I was afraid of, Tom. I've been using Handbrake but Compressor was recommended to me because it would do what I want faster. So far, I've wasted $50 and about 3 hours trying to figure it out. So much for faster.
Best I can tell, I'm trying to convert MPEG-2 Program Stream. At least that's what it says in Compressor.
OPen it in Videospec or some simlilar utility and please post a screenshot of the report. program streats should be ok.
