Can I play an MP3 file from a cd in iTunes/

Question

I am trying to play an MP3 file from a CD using iTunes.

When I insert the CD no program is launched - not iTunes, not Quick Time.

The inserted CD does not show up in any directory or any other drive.

Is there a way to play an MP3 file from a CD in iTunes or do I need another program to piece of hardware?

Unlike an audio CD, an MP3 CD will not pop up in iTunes. Open it in Finder.

If your machine can't read the MP3 CD at all, it may be defective.
