Will the titles written under each picture in iPhoto migrate to Photos?

TItles and all other metadata will migrate to Photos. To see them, go to the View menu, Metadata, and check Title.

Note, however, that the Name metadata tag is not displayed in Photos. If you're not sure which one you used for your custom annotations, select an image, right-click on it and select Get Info.

Once you set the Title metadata to show, it becomen's a general setting and will be shown in all views.

The Get Info instructions were for you to confirm in iPhotos if you entered that information in the Title, or Name fields. iPhoto displays Title if available, but will show Name (usually the photo ID number) if no Title is available. Photos is not that smart.

Sorry if this all sounds confusing, but Photos is an entirely new, and different, app than iPhoto. The good part is that you can migrate to Photos, check it out, then come back to using iPhoto if you absolutely hate Photos.

If the titles were added to the photos in an iPhoto library and that library was converted to a Photos library they will be displayed under the thumbnails if you set the View ➙ Metadata menu option to display Titles:

You'll get this in the Moments, Photos, All Photos and Albums views:

The other metadata items are only shown in the Info window.
