iPhotos Library from iMac Time Machine to new MBP

My iMac HD seems to have failed...fortunately I have a Time Machine backup. I bought a new MacBook Pro, and am trying to restore my iPhotos library from my iMac Time Machine backup, but my MBP Time Machine app will not recognize the iMac Time Machine backup. I am able to find the iPhoto Library in the iMac TM backup using Finder, but iPhoto directs me to open via Time Machine. iPhoto version on MBP is 9.6.1, not sure what it is on now in-op iMac. I have searched extensively on this site for the solution, but have not been able to piece the answer together. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
