My ipad keeps goin back to my home screen when im tryin to search or download or half way though a page

I know how aggrivating it can be to lose your place on a page, especially when there doesn't seem to be any apparent cause. It may help to force close all open apps and reset your iPad.

Force an app to close in iOS

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

If your iPad is still unexpectedly loading your home page, the next step would be to reinstall iOS on your device by placing it in Recovery Mode, then choosing Update in iTunes.

1. Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
2. Put your device in recovery mode.
3. When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

Had same problem with Grandson's iPad. It turned out to be the home button. Try the steps below. Worked for me.

Home button fix

open a stock iOS app (Weather, Stocks, Clock, etc.). Once the app is open, press your iPhone’s power button until the ‘slide to power off’ screen appears. From that screen, press and hold your Home button until iOS force quits the stock app you have open.

This will recalibrate your home button.
