Deleted photos from iPhone are still showing in the new Photos app

Hi all,

I believe this was also a problem with the iPhoto library, specifically a problem ever since iOS 8 has come out, but despite deleting pictures on my phone in both the normal folder and the recently deleted photos, they still come up on my imports in the new Photos app when I connect my iPhone to my Macbook Pro.

I don't particularly want to manually select which images I want to import every time (as I might have several hundred every import), and it is slightly worrying that deleted photos haven't properly been deleted from my phone (mainly for storage reasons), so I just wanted some insight on how to properly "delete" these photos and prevent them from coming up on import.
