Q: iPhone 5 white screen

ok so I just received a new iPhone through Att because I was having a similar problem with my old phone . i charged my phone and when I took it off the charger I noticed a text from my girlfriend but it didn't say her name it had her number written numerically . After removing the phone from charge I clicked on the text and the screen went white and became unresponsive after numerous attempts w the same result now my phone can not make or receive calls but I have Internet acces and use of my aps .  Any idea how or what this is ? it is driving my insane and know I am phoneless .... Please help
