green light on power adapter not on when charging

This is a new Mac Book Pro Retina 15-inch 2014. Running Yosemite. --The green light on the power adapter is not on at all (no red light either) when the battery says says it is 100% charged. Power info says it's on battery power. Then the green light suddenly comes back off and on. Cable and plugs are in good shape.Please advise if this a big deal. I was away for two weeks, computer on but sleeping , not in use. THANKS!!

The charger symptoms are not normal. I certainly would bring the MBP and the charger in for an evaluation. If your MBP is still under warranty, I suspect a new charger may be required.

If it is under a year old, that is what guarantees are for. No light at all suggests that the charger is out of order. As Oglethorpe says, take it in for evaluation as soon as you can.
