I have several columns with numbers. I'd like to highlight cells as green on a row if they are greater than the previous cell on the same row? I know how to do it for one cell but is there some way to do it for all cells?

once you have made your rule for one cell select the table and click "Show Highlighting Rules". You will see:
Combine Rules and you are there.

That doesn't work. For rule 2, the greater than rule, I get "#REF!".

Sounds as if you need to uncheck the 'Preserve Row' and 'Preserve Column'. Here I'm starting with cell B2 (not A2).
Then select all cells to which you want to apply the conditional Highlighting and, as quinn explains, click 'Combine Rules':

I tried that but it isn't working. D5 should not be highlighted in green since it isn't greater than C5. However, just like your example, it is comparing to a single cell (B2), which it is greater than.
I'm not sure why yours is working since C4 is greater than A2 in your pic.
I did combine rules.

To get there, I clicked on cell C2 (not B2) and added the Conditional Highlighting rule as show, removing the absolute references to B2 by unchecking Preserve Row and Preserve Column. Then I selected C2:E6 and chose 'Combine Rules.'
