Photo Albums disappeared with new photo app on ITUNES?

I have attached my Ipad to my Mac today and found that the new photo app has no more Events, has lost all my albums and it seems a handful of photos are left. How is this possible and how to I restore it?

How do I get the old application back?

Itunes-OTHER, iOS 8.3
