Macbook Pro Only works with a DVD movie inside and DVD player running otherwise super slow:

My Macbook Pro Late 2008 with Mavericks OS is running super duper slow if I do not have the MBpro running a DVD movie all the time. It seems to also need an ethernet connection running (open) in order to not be super slow.

Otherwise if I try to do anything the wheel start to spin for minutes (just to open a folder or anything)

This is quite annoying.

I bought this machine second hand. It was fitted with a solid state drive.

I have enclosed some setup data:

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), 15 " Late 08 MacBookPro5,1, 8GB RAM
