How do I set up my phone and iPad to use the phone on wifi?

My first thought was you want to setup your iPhone as a hotspot to connect your iPad to the Internet through it.

Then I see your iPad has Wi-Fi + 3G and your queston says, "to use the phone on wifi". Does that mean you want to setup your iPad as the hotspot and connect the phone to it? The setup would be the same, setting up the iPad as the hotspot, then you could surf the net on the phone through it.

A Personal Hotspot lets you share the cellular data connection of your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular).
