Software to shutdown iMac under no-break ??

Hi people, greetings!

Does someone knows a software that understands that iMac is working with batteries of a UPS after power loss and permit schedule the shutdown of the iMac in that case? This is to prevent sudden shutdown after end of battery charge.

iMac 21.5" mid 2011 Intel with Yosemite.

Thanks a lot.

Software

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Dear Kaufmann, thanks for your reply.

I look for that in Energy Saver, but not have a button for no-break options.

Please see pictures below. My system is Yosemite 10.10.3.

What is happen, why not have this option for me? This would be exactly what I need.

My nobreak is a SMS-Manager-III-Senoidal-700VA and is connected to iMac by a USB cable to data management.

Thanks a lot and best regards.

I've tried to check the product website but I can't find the operating or installation instructions. It seems that yours may have more features than a UPS here in the US. I would contact their technical support because the Mac OS X is capable of detecting a UPS, but yours is a safety management system (SMS) which may be something different. I could not find much on the system requirements either, but I did find this which says your unit includes power management software:

It may be that yours is only compatible with a Windows machine.

Dear babowa:

Thanks again for you time and interesting to help me.

My no-break is exactly this model, but SMS is a registered brand of the manufacturer, not a acronyms to safety management system (SMS).

I think that you are right, probably this brand SMS is not compatible with Mac OS X - I do not think about this before the purchase, unfortunately.

They comes with a management software, but demands that internet is always open because the software only works on line.

Because that, the native support of OS X is much better than that software.

Could you recommend to me a model and brand of a no-break full compatible with OS X ?

May be I will sell my no break and to buy a new one.

Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi babowa

Are your machine also a iMac with Yosemite?

Here in Brazil the APC UPS's are different from USA models, because APC bought a former Microsol company here.

But searching on Google I found the UPS's from EATON and available here in Brazil the same model from USA.

Do you know this brand? Is this a good brand?

The model is 5E650USB or 5E850USB and in the folder is wrote " Automatic integration into Windows/MacOS/Linux power management for safe system shutdown".

So, today I received the EATON 5E850USB no break (UPS).

I connected it on my iMac with USB cable, but again nothing happened, simply the UPS tab is not showed on Energy Saver's preferences panel.

I think that, may be, this could be a configuration of Apple for Yosemite working on iMacs.

I'm very upset with this and do not know what else to do!!

Best regards and thanks agains.
