got my watch yesterday. can't make phone calls using watch. displaying called failed

Your iPhone needs to be close enough to your Apple Watch to connect to it via Bluetooth when making the call.

Ok so I've had this problem for a month, have tried literally everything, called Apple Support twice, been to the Genius Bar twice - no one could figure it out. But sometimes it seemed to just "randomly" work. I think I FINALLY figured it out. The watch will only make phone calls when the iPhone is locked, screen dark. When the iPhone is "awake", the watch and phone seem to interfere with each other - like it doesn't "know" which hardware to use - and it won't make or receive calls. So far this is working (one day now). I'll give it a few more days before I declare victory but looks promising.

Of course I spoke to soon and mine isn't working anymore either. Very frustrating. You don't say where you are but if you're in the Middle East there are other threads on here which seem to say that watches paired with iPhones built for the Middle East that don't have Face Time can't make calls. You need Face Time to make calls on the watch. This is not my issue though...

SSame issue here , live in Dubai, phone is from service provider with no FaceTime. Will check with others who have it. Where can I contact apple support by phone or email ?

Yes, same problem here. Also in Dubai with no Facetime on iPhone 6. Unable to make or receive calls on Apple Watch, and just states, call failed. Have tried resetting both phone and watch. Rang apple support and they suggested that it may be a problem with the watch, which I Don't agree with. Apparently problem only started woth software version 8.3.

OK i have seen many of these posts with the same problem and i had the same problem as well.

I was in contact with apple support and they finally gave me an option that worked, and i have not seen it as an option on these forums yet.

1. Un-Pair the watch with the phone

2. on your phone go to settings/general/reset and reset the network settings

3. re-pair the watch with the phone and all should work

I tried everything including all methods on the forums. Nothing worked until i did this.

Thanks for the info Redeemdesigns. Can you please confirm your version of iOS and also, does your phone have facetime, as iPhones in middle east have facetime disabled, which I beleive causes the problem with the Apple Watch.

AS I LIVE IN UAE TOO, I GOT MY WATCH 3 DAYS BACK AND I AM FACING SAME PROBLEM AS YOU PEOPLE ARE FACING.

IN MY IPHONE 6 PLUS THERE IS NO FACE TIME, MAYBE BECAUSE OF THAT I AM NOT ABLE TO ANSWER ANY CALL ON APPLE WATCH.

I CAN TEXT I CAN REPLY I CAN DO EVERYTHING WHICH IS ALOWED TO DO THROUGH WATCH EXCEPT ANSWERING AND MAKING CALL.

EVEN I CAN REJECT CALL BUT WHEN I TRY TO ACCEPT THE CALL ON APPLE WATCH IT JUST SHOWING "CONNECTING" AND AFTER SOMETIME IT SHOWS CALL FAILED. I HAVE TRIED ALL THE STEPS AND ALL THE WAYS WHICH YOU PEOPLE TOLD UP... BUT SORYY NOTHING WORKED FOR ME. I Think this is going to work.

1. Check if you have your phone as a hot spot for any other device other like an iPad.

IF you do go to forget this network and erase the hot spot from the iPad

2. Turn off wifi calling. If you already have it off. Turn it on then have someone call you. Your apple watch will not even send you a notification

3. Now turn off wifi calling.

4. Have someone call you and pick up from watch. This should work.

I Just did this with the help of the forum.
