Purchased Videos not playing

I have a windows 8.1PC. I am trying to play purchased SD format videos. When I launch any SD format purchased video the movie's menu launches OK but when I choose 'play' or 'scene selections' the movie does not play. Rented SD format movies play OK. I am on the current version of itunes and have run the Quicktime repair utility. What do I need to do?
