I bought a "new" iPod 5th gen and I can't sync my music like I did on my old iPod

I purchased a 'new' iPod 5th gen and did a restore from iTunes. All of my apps were synced but the music just says it's in the iCloud. I don't want it in the cloud, I want it on my iPod. I have iTunes Match and was told this may be the problem. How can I fix this? Please

iPod touch, iOS 8.3

This

iTunes Match on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

includes

  • When you enable iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and replaced with your music in iCloud.
  • Syncing music with iTunes will be disabled while iTunes Match is enabled on your iOS device.

Thus, you can't sync music with Match on
