ios 8.3 erased all my data and i could not backup at all...

hello everyone, i am utterly disappointed that the new update has caused an all data wipeout in my phone system. even itunes stopped the backup because it said that the backup was corrupted or not compatible with my iphone. my backup was before the update (ios 8) and my phone now has the latest update (ios 8.3). is it because itunes is incapable of supporting backup from a totally different version of an update?
