Cannot open Numbers file saved in iCloud Drive on Mac

I get the following error "The file “XXXXXXX.numbers” couldn’t be opened." whenever I attempt to open an iWork file stored in my iCloud drive from my 2011 iMac. I'm running OS X Yosemite and the latest version of iWork (Pages 5.5.3, Numbers 3.5.3, Keynote 6.5.3). The only way I can access any of my files in my iCloud drive is to sign on to iCloud.com. What is the purpose of storing files in iCloud drive if it cannot be accessed from my iMac? I have no problems opening it from my iPhone 5 or iPad mini 3.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

On my Mac Numbers works well with iCloud drive. Have you tried all the usual things on your Mac? Restart? Sign out of iCloud and then back in? Also try to determine whether you only experience the problem with one document in iCloud, or with all documents there.

I was unable to open all documents stored in my iCloud Drive. I tried all the above except signing out/in of iCloud on my Mac. Once I did, I was able to access my files again. However, now it identifies my Mac with a "(2)" at the end of the name in the iCloud settings from Safari. This isn't a big deal but sort of annoying as I don't know how to rename my Mac to remove the "(2)" designation. Thank you for your help
