iTunes says I have more storage than my actual iPhone does

I have 16 GB iPhone 5s. When looking on my phone (Settings -> General -> Usage), it says I have 1.5 GB available (with 10.5 GB used). However, when l connect my iPhone to my computer, iTunes tells me that I have 5.07 GB free (with a capacity of 12.03 GB).

Why is there a difference?
