Igonore Zackary, he doesn't know what he is talking about. If the phone was restored as new (erased), the thieves would have needed your Apple ID password to do this, and the phone would still be showing up on Find my iPhone device list and would not have been able to be activated.

The only conclusion is that the thieves somehow breached your Apple ID account. Did you change all of your passwords when the phone was stolen?

There are ways to get around activation lock. It is possible that restoring using DFU mode in iTunes would allow the person to bypass Find My iPhone. I do not know if this would let you in to the phone after restoring it, but it would let you erase it.

That is incorrect. There are NO ways around Activation Lock, because the lock state is not maintained on the phone. It is recorded in Apple's activation servers. After restoring from DFU mode the phone must still contact the servers before it will work, and when it does activivation will fail. The day Activation Lock is defeated it will make headlines around the world. People have been trying for 3 years, and so far none have succeeded.

I just got off a phone call with the account security dept regarding my case (813466288), basically, there is no way to disabled 'Find My iPhone' or remove it from my account without knowing my apple password.

But that exactly has happened in my case and there is no answer received on why this has happened from the call...... The last activities captured was the lost mode was enabled and a sound was played few times... that's it.

Conclusion: I did not get my answer to my issue.

It is likely that whoever has your phone knows you well enough to know, or be able to guess your Apple ID password. Consider that... and keep an eye out for anyone close to you who suddenly has an iPhone where they did not before.

Well, you'll never know who is actually reading this........Maybe the person who found the phone, bought the phone or just looking for a case study.....etc.

the possibilities are endless but this is 1% probability or lesser ... the other 99% is the one you just mentioned.

there is possibilities that it was disabled when erase mode was selected unintentionally and erased all data once it is connected to internet. But this is merely speculation until i get details from the account security dept.

after talking to apple live chat support, the only way to contact account security dept is via phone.

I will do exactly that once i buy a new phone today.

If you are saying that it is removed from your account (no longer registered with your apple ID), I would assume that someone has found your iPhone and has completed a factory reset. In this case, I find it unlikely that you will ever locate it since it has no relation to you software wise. If you have your receipt or some form of proof that the iPhone is yours (ie. Serial Number, IMEI) and you locate the device, you will be able to reclaim it.

Sincerely sorry for your loss,

Zackary
