I have an ipod shuffle second generation that works great, but the earbuds with remote on the cord are shot and therefore I can't control the ipod (the 2nd generation has no controls on the unit itself. Does anyone know where I can get replacement earbuds with remote?

You have a 3rd generation iPod, not 2nd (the 3rd generation is the one without any controls). Apple does not sell those earphones anymore. They only sell EarPods which only work with the 4th generation shuffle. You can most likely still get replacement stock if you go to an Apple Store or call AppleCare.

When you went to the Apple Store, did you look on the shelf, or did you tell an employee that you need replacement headphones? Either way, you can also call AppleCare if that's more convenient.
