Pages - Error message on iPad

Hi,

I am having trouble opening a document in Pages on an iPad 4. I am receiving an error message of 'Document can't be opened'. I am able to make a copy of the file but unable to share or open the file, even in another app. There is no iCloud account linked to the iPad and Pages is updated to latest version.
