There are two kinds of manuals for the older Apple computer, you may find neither of them

helpful to troubleshoot user issues, software or hardware problems, or system failures.

The link provide above covers the basics to figure out the problem; and if they do not help

there may be other potential remedies that may. At some point, there could be hardware

failure behind the problem if the hard disk drive or other components have worn out.

The similar issue is discussed at the iFixit.com site where repair guides are online:

https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/61647/I+cant+get+past+the+blue+screen+on+sta rt+up.

The user manuals do not cover troubleshooting. And the technical service manuals go further

and look at the situation as though someone already did narrow down the problem to some

kind of hardware failure. That is where a trained technician would attempt various means or

methods to include replacement of hardware parts, since that also is a remedy at some point.

Now that replacement parts are harder to get, you can hope the issue is something as simple

as an old hard disk drive having worn out after a few million miles of rotational running at

speeds of 7200-RPM.

Although it probably won't help you much, a service manual and a repair guide are OK for when

you know what parts are likely needing replaced, & have the skills + attention to detail to fix it.

Then, there are the quick guides, that a computer (or a car) ships with that gloss over all that it

can do, tell you where the trunk is, where the fuel opening is, the door, and other features...

Although I saw your post some time ago, the issue is not one most manuals really cover. It is

a matter of troubleshooting the symptoms to determine the cause. Software &/or hardware.

Good luck in any event...! 🙂
