Time machine for an EHD

Hi,

I would like to save some data on an External HD.

I would also like to have an automatic backup of this EHD.

Can Time Machine simultaneously make a backup of two HD (HD+EHD)?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

It appears that is not possible:

Investigate if i third party application will do that such as Carbon Copy Cloner.

Volumes on external drives (except Thunderbolt drives) are automatically added to the backup exclusion list. You can remove the exclusions in the Time Machine preference pane, and then the volumes will be backed up, provided they're in MacOS format. Volumes in other formats can't be backed up with Time Machine. No drive will be backed up to itself; you must have a separate drive to use as the backup destination.
