is the Mac dead?
can't get games for computer anymore, only iPhone or iPad. "Mac App Store" just switches to App store (for pads or phones)

There is a whole section of games if you go to App store > categories. Are you mixing up with the difference between iTunes and App Store. iTunes is for iOS products and App Store for computers. Perhaps you are trying to buy a game from the wrong place. I've just tested this and find Mac type games in their own section as mentioned above.
