Can this older Macbook Pro handle Yosemite?

my wife and I own a small business and one of our employees is using an old Macbook Pro. It's used to run a proprietary java app, and then just simple stuff like Safari, Mail, etc... It doesn't do any 'heavy lifting' like processing audio/video files, image editing, etc... Pretty basic stuff.

I'm wondering if upgrading to Yosemite would be smart or dumb. Would the machine run better or worse on it? Here are the specs:

Currently running 10.8.5, 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with only 4GB of 667 MHZ DDR2 SDRAM.

Thoughts?
