Q: None of my photos or albums are showing in the media browser - how do I insert a photo into MS Powerpoint.

Since I migrated to the new Photos app I can't insert a photo into Microsoft PowerPoint using the media browser - none of my photos or albums are showing up. I have over 18,000 photos and can't even see a way to copy and paste out of Photos into a Powerpoint slide.

I tried one of the suggestion such as "downloading originals to this mac" https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204669

I also tried reinstating iPhoto which pushed the old photos to the Media Browser, but not the ones that have been imported to the MBP since the migration from iPhoto to Photos.

This is incredibly frustrating - can you help?

You should be able to access photos inside the Photos library with Powerpoint 2011.  Have you checked the updates to see if you have the latest?  A user posted about accessing with 2011 and 2016 but 2011 had the 14.5.1 update. I can't be sure it was the .1. Check to see if there's another.  If so apply it and try again.

Otherwise, delete the com.apple.iApps.plist file from your User/Home/Library/Preferences folder, reboot and launch Photos and then Powerpoint and try again.

I've seen only 1 person claim that Office 2011 works with Photos, and he was using Office 2016 also. Maybe the fact that he had Office 2016 might have made 2011 work or maybe he was mistaken, but no one else has been able to provide a response that it does work.

I have Office 2011 (the latest 14.5.1 version) and it does not work with Photos. Deleting the com.apple.iApps.plist file doesn't enable Photos either. If fact, it removes iPhoto and PhotoBooth from the list. To restore those, I put the old file back.

So, if it is possible, that isn't the answer.

This is a painful bug. I hope it gets addressed soon.

I don't think it's a bug. I believe Microsoft needs to update 2011 to work with Photos. Or, I for one have not found how to fix it.

Same issue here. Any solution ?

    Office 2011 14.5.3

    Mac OS 10.10.4

Deleting the file com.apple.iApps.plist did not work.
