Problems with iPhoto and SD card wont read

I have recently tried to download photos from an SD card. It was successful on the first card but the second card had a 183 photos and hung up at 170. I attempwted to abort the download but it has paused iPhotos and it would not restart. It also would not show the card being inserted on the desk top and i cant find it on finder either.

Tonight i restored iphotos from the Time Machine but the paused version is still to be found on the launch pad and the SD card still cant be found once inserted.
