Just had email from apple telling me my account has been suspended, when i click on the unblock , it asks for all of my bank details is this right? it seems rather a lot of info just to id my account ?

It's phishing. Forward the email to reportphishing@apple.com and then delete it.
If you entered your bank details, contact your bank immediately regardless of whether or not you chose to submit the form.

It's a scam. Don't follow any links, and certainly don't give any details. Genuine emails from Apple will always come from the apple.com domain and will be addressed to you by name, not 'Dear Customer' or similar. Apple will never ask you for credit card details in this way.
