html5 videos stop working on safari after sleep

this has been happening for a long time now. videos work fine but if i let my computer sleep for a while, html5 videos won't load any more. i get a black screen and safari freezes. i then have to force quit safari and videos wont' work till i restart my computer. this happens on a virgin user profile too. i made one just to test it. same thing happens with streaming videos in itunes from my home server. in itunes, videos will continue to play but itunes will be unresponsive and i'll have to for quit it. i can't pause, stop, or scrub the timeline. it just gets stuck. it all works again after a restart. but then after a long sleep, nothing works again.

it is etremely frustrating.

i'm on the latest OS with safari and itunes on the latest updates running on macbook pro 2.8 i7

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Delete com.apple.Safari.plist file.

Quit all applications.

Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select "Library" from the drop down.

Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist

Right click on it and select "Move it to Trash".

Restart. Relaunch Safari.

If this doesn’t help, “Put Back” the com.apple.Safari.plist

Right click on the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.

Right click on the com.apple.Safari.plist and select “Put Back”.
