My Apple TV has a continual blinking light with the Apple icon on the TV screen. Cannot access menu screen. I have rebooted and unplugged but with this same result. Help!

You need to restore

I did restore it by pushing Menu/Down and unplugging. It just has an apple on the screen and is still blinking. Do I need to restore it using the desktop?
That action simply reboots, to restore you will need to connect to iTunes
What if it will not connect to iTunes?
If Apple TV is not showing in iTunes, you need to make sure you are following the steps exactly (unplug all cables, connect micro usb, if using a 3rd gen ATV reconnect power). Connect directly to computer. Try a different cable.
