Q: Macsafe charger won't charge

The MacSafe charger works for a few seconds, then  the lights go out. Sometimes it fully charges, now I have to keep unplugging it and plugging it in again and it charges each time for a few seconds.  Help !

Very Good of you to reply with hep. I sincerely appreciate this and will keep this 'on file'.  Presently the charger IS working without me having to reset it... hmmm. Crazy.  Thank you. xx

been having similar problems (using a MagSafe to MagSafe 2 adapter). I tried cleaning around the ports and a SMC reset. Didn't really help. Occasionally, when it is working, the connector and that corner of the laptop get very hot.

I noticed that if I flip the MagSafe adapter 180, the charging works every time and the laptop / connector do not get hot. I am starting to suspect the adapter.

The connection on the magsafe charger wire that connects to the MBP has spring loaded pins.  Make certain that they are moving freely.

    Ciao.

Holy cow -- this actually WORKED for me!! Thanks so much!  I hadn't used my MBP in a few months, and when I turned it on, the battery WOULD NOT CHARGE.  The green LED light was on on the mag safe power adapter, my battery status was NORMAL -- but it would not charge the MBP.  I just did the SMC reset -- and VOILA!  The mag safe adapter light turned amber, and is now charging!  Thank you again!!
