Looking for safe download of Adobe Reader 9.4

My G4 PowerBook funs on 10.4.11 and I currently have Adobe Reader 8. I have been looking for a newer Reader, as some text sites I look at will not open using Reader 8 now. Nothing appears on the Adobe website to download an earlier Reader, while there are a number of non-Adobe sites that do provide a download. I tried the CNET site but got a warning about invalid certificate so I didn't use it. As a side note, I get a lot of invalid cert's warnings these days, so I'm not sure it is the site and not my outdated laptop. Thanks to anyon e with a suggestion!! bob.c

I actually posted on this back in 2012 when Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.5 became available for PowerPC:

I recommend the above mentioned Adobe Reader 9.5, but if you want 9.4, you can get it from the official site here:

ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/9.x/9.4.0/en_US/AdbeRdr940_en_US_ppc.pk g.zip

Adobe Reader also allows you to update the version from within the program by "checking for updates".

The 9.x branch of Adobe Reader is the last designed for PowerPC; there may be unofficial ways of getting the newer versions to work with PowerPC but I have not experimented with them.

After looking at every page, I found a SEARCH function but could not find a reference to versions prior to 10.1. The link you provided is for an update to 9.5.5 but would not update the Reader 8 I already have. I did find a 9.4 package in a CNET link and gave it a shot. We will see how it works.....

Adobe saves content on their FTP indefinitely so the above link should theoretically remain available forever; you can still get Adobe Reader 6.0 here (ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/6.x/6.0/enu/). The FTP directory folder changed from "acrobatreader" to "adobe/reader" sometime in 2003.

You can still get versions from 1996 - 2003 here: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobatreader/mac/

Enjoy!

Thanks for the reference, I did load 9.4 but could not load 9.5....oh well, it's good enough. The problem is I did have 10.1 for programmers and experimentation, and was able to open files at Ancestry.com. But now I get a black screen. So I use the old WinXP with the latest Flash Player which does open the files. Thanks, folks!
