downloaded the new garageband now two versions exist

do i need to put older version of garageband in trash to install newer version

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

no, installing the new version will place the older version in a sub folder within your Applications folder.


the new version lacks some features the older version had, so it's a good idea to keep the older version; both can be used (though of course the older version all not be able to open files saved from the newer version)
