Password error

I have an iMac G4 and I’ve tried to connect it to my router (Zyxel from Telefonica, Spain) but without any success. Other devices (PC & iPhone) do connect correctly, so now I have an Airport Express that right after connecting it both to power and router (via cable), my imac recognizes it and I’m able to surf the Internet. However, one LED shows that it is not configured, in fact I have been unable to protect the wifi with a password. It shows the following message: “Password Error. It seems that the selected file is not a valid firmware image for an AirPort base station". Why is this error due? Can someone help me through the configuration? Please take into account that this is the first time I use a Mac. Thanks

Which exact model of the iMac G4 do you have? Some were offered with the original AirPort card which is only capable of connecting to 802.11b wireless networks with WEP type encryption. The issue may be that AirPort Express may be using an encryption type (WPA or WPA2) that your G4 does not support.

Thanks for your answer. However, I think that what you comment is not my case because I have the AirPort connected to router Zyxel via cable not wifi. Any other suggestion? Thank You.

I was referring to your iMac G4 connecting to the AirPort Express by wireless. If the Express is configured to use WPA or WPA2 for wireless security your iMac may not be able to connect to it wirelessly.
