I am shooting on a newer Panasonic video camera (HC-V750) that records in AVCHD video file format. I am using OSX version is 10.8.5. with iMovie 11 v 9.0.9. For some unknown reason, I cannot import a video shot in AVCHD format. Does anyone know if it is possible to edit AVCHD video with my configuration? Any suggestions appreciated?

You must import from a connected camera and not a file created with one.

I believe your camcorder can record in 1080 50p or 60p( depends on PAL or NTSC ).
If you recorded in 50p or 60p then do a search on these forums for a solution.Search for 50p or 60p with iMovie '11 or iMovie ver 9.
If recorded in 50i or 60i then iMovie '11 can handle this directly, but 50p or 60p requires some sort of conversion.
Can iMovie 11 v9.0.9 import and edit AVCHD video format?
